Sega Buy THQ Subsidiary With Aggressive Bid; No Bids For Darksiders Devs

Sega have bought THQ’s Relic Entertainment subsidiary with an aggressive bid of $26 million at an auction that was held this week. Relic were responsible for the Company of Heroes franchise under THQ.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft picked up THQ’s Montreal studio along with the Southpark game they were working on. The auction results are as follows, according to the Distressed Debt Investing blog, which has been following the proceedings:

• $26 million for Relic Entertainment (Sega)

• $22.3 million for Volition Inc. (Koch Media)
• $5.8 million for Metro I.P. (Koch Media)

• $2.5 million for THQ Montreal (Ubisoft)
• $3.2M for THQ Montreal’s Southpark game (Ubisoft)

• $11 million for Evolve I.P. (Take-Two)

• $500k for Homefront I.P. (Crytek)

Unfortunately, no bids were made for Vigil Entertainment, developers of the Darksiders franchise, according to DDI.
