<< Last week’s software sales chart

Namco Bandai released Tales of Xillia 2 in Japan last week, and the role-playing game debuted at the #1 spot on the software sales chart with 364,439 copies sold.

That’s quite a bit less than the original Tales of Xillia, which sold 525,605 copies in its first week, but something to keep in mind is that Tales of Xillia was heavily promoted as a 15th anniversary celebration of the series. In comparison, Xillia 2 isn’t quite as “special”.

Earlier in the week, Namco Bandai revealed that they hope to sell 650,000 copies of Xillia 2 by the end of their ongoing fiscal year.

Meanwhile, another popular RPG, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, is proving to be rather resilient. Bravely Default stuck on in the top-10 at #6, with another 20,454 copies sold, bringing its total sales to 234,413.

Finally, a new Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Nintendo 3DS XL bundle and the release of a black 3DS XL model gave the Nintendo 3DS a boost for the week, and brought Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate back into the top-20. Last week, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate wasn’t even in the top-50. A budget re-release of the game is scheduled to go on sale later this year as well.
