Patch 1.20 for Final Fantasy XIV was supposed to be released toward the end of November, but producer, Naoki Yoshida, says that the inclusion of a few features is making the process take longer than anticipated. 1.20 is now planned for early December.
New features include a Dark Moogle quest/battle, new seasonal events, class reforms, achievements, PC search, and market tweaks. PC search and market tweaks in particular are rather demanding of resources, but the team’s programmers are hard at work on them.
Also planned are tweaks to the repair system. The repair animations will be shortened, as will the time taken to repair an item. You’ll also be able to have NPCs repair your items instead of doing it yourself or asking another player character for help.
You can read the full list of planned changes for patch 1.20 in this column from Yoshida. Additionally, Yoshida assures that while Square plan to begin charging a fee for playing Final Fantasy XIV again sometime in the future, this won’t happen until patch 1.20 has been out for a while.
