True to its name, Nimble Sakura Warrior is due for a speedy Nintendo eShop release. Players in Japan will get to grab it next week on November 16th. Nimble Sakura Warrior is essentially a two-button game, using the A/B buttons and the Circle Pad.
The B button is used for dodging. You need to watch for an enemy to attack. After dodging, you can counterattack using A before they have a chance to react. In some cases you’ll be able to spot openings even while they’re raising their swords to attack you.
If you don’t look for openings, enemies will be able to block your attacks. As you land hits, you build up a metre that can be used to perform a finishing move, which is effective for taking down multiple enemies at once, or for bosses.
Items such as kunai and recovery items can be assigned to the D-pad. See the frog in the screenshot? That’s an offensive item. You can buy that and toss it at enemies to make them flinch. These items can be purchased in town.
The town also allows you to partake in various street performance minigames to earn prizes. There are six of these in total, one of which involves slashing watermelons. In town, you’ll also be able to forge swords, repair your damaged sword at the blacksmith’s and recover at the inn. You can watch a trailer for Nimble Sakura Warrior in this post. The game will cost 700 yen ($9) in Japan.
