Pokédex 3D Updated To Unlock All Augmented Reality Features

Recommended Videos

Nintendo have quietly updated the free Pokédex 3D app on the Nintendo eShop via the SpotPass feature. While the update doesn’t add new Pokémon, it unlocks augmented reality features for all the indexed monsters that would previously only have been accessible by scanning AR markers and sharing Pokémon with other users.

The update unlocks the following functions: Pause; Note button, Background Settings; Scale Settings; Stopwatch Button. The update is worldwide, so you should be seeing it soon, if you haven’t already. Scale settings allow you to change the size of a Pokémon in the AR viewer, while the background feature allows you to import a photo saved on your 3DS SD card as a backdrop for your Pokémon.

While this update is rather minor, there’s still hope for more Pokémon to be added to Pokédex 3D. Earlier in the year, The Pokémon Company president, Tsunekazu Ishihara, revealed to the Japanese Famitsu magazine that he would like to expand the application to include Pokémon from regions other than Pokémon Black/White’s Unova as well.
