Japanese And Asian PlayStation Network Services To Resume This Week [Update 2]

While the PlayStation Network is already back up in the U.S. and Europe, Japan and Asian territories have had to wait a little longer. However, starting May 28th, PSN will go back up in those regions as well. Online play and PlayStation Home will be amongst the first services to go back up.

Like the U.S. and Europe, Japan’s “Welcome back” program will offer a month of free PlayStation Plus subscriptions, and two PlayStation 3 and two PSP games for free from the following list:

Additionally, Sony are also offering 30 days of Platinum membership for their Weekly Toro Station game-cum-pop culture news service.

Update: The Asian “Welcome Back” package has been announced for Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Thanks to entrydenied in the comments for the heads up! The package will include the following:

Like other regions, Asian users will be able to avail a free month’s subscription to PlayStation Plus. Additionally, a “Dokodemo Issyo Spring Theme” for the PlayStation 3 will be made available for free, along with a special PlayStation Home offer for all users, regardless of registration details. Further details will be announced at a later date.

Update 2: PC World report that the PlayStation Network in Hong Kong and South Korea will take longer to be brought back online, while Sony remain in discussions with the authorities in both regions. According to Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo: “It’s going to take a little while longer.”
