Sony are set to launch a service this year, titled “PlayStation Suite,” which allows PlayStation 1 games to be played across a variety of Android-based portable devices — even non-Sony ones.

Sony cite mobile phones, smart-phones and tablet PCs as examples of the kind of devices that will have access to the PlayStation Suite service. The service will also include the PlayStation Certified program for hardware developers, to whom Sony will offer development support and licensing.

PlayStation Suite is set to launch this year. Sony say that they will be “starting with original PlayStation games,” and that these titles will be made available via an easy-to-use PlayStation Store on Android devices. Naturally, Sony’s own upcoming NGP device will have access to the service as well.
