Professor Layton developer Level 5 announced a new RPG project, which looks like Animal Crossing set in the world Dark Cloud. In Fantasy Life players create an avatar and help townsfolk with tasks.

Brownie Brown, the studio that created Heroes of Mana and Mother 3, are assisting Level 5 on the project. Level 5 also roped Nobuo Uematsu in to compose the score, which makes Fantasy Life one of their larger projects.
Level 5 started out as a developer. Now they’re a publisher that hires other developers too.
Fantasy Life is scheduled to come out in Japan next year.
