Simply ports, revisit Simple 2000 games on the Wii

This article is over 16 years old and may contain outdated information

D3 Publisher started building the Simple brand on the Wii. The two games I’m about to mention are not part of the same series, they’re part of the Simple 2000 for Wii series. Confusing? Somewhat, but the branch branding has a purpose. Simple 2000 Series Wii Vol. 1: The Table Game and Simple 2000 Series Wii Vol. 2: The Party Game were originally part of the Simple 2000 series on the PlayStation 2. Both of these budget games will get Nintendo Wii ports on August 28 in Japan. Online play has been added to the collection of eleven table games in Simple 2000 Series Wii Vol. 1: The Table Game and motion control is now a part of Simple 2000 Series Wii Vol. 2: The Party Game.

I’m sure everyone is jumping up and down to spend 2,100 yen ($20) to play Hearts online or try another shake the remote with another party game. However, this PS2 to Wii shovelware strategy may bear fruit. The Simple 2000 series is home to Earth Defense Force, the Oneechanbara, and many other strange titles. It’s unclear if D3 Publisher plans on porting Simple 2000 hits or if they are specifically aiming at the Wii Sports audience with the Simple 2000 Wii series.
