The 1/144 RX-78F00 Gundam plastic model, which is based on the real-life robot showcased in Yokohama, Japan, will be available soon. Hobby Watch has obtained the kit and published a review of the Gunpla, from the box to the finished product. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
The instruction manual will come printed bilingually in Japanese and English. It also explains the back story of the Gundam Factory Yokohama and the facilities placed to support the 18-meter (59-foot) Gundam robot. Although there is also a larger 1/100 version of the Gunpla, this 1/144 kit exclusively has the Gundam-Dock, which hosts the life-sized robot. The runner parts for the dock will also include the G-Carrier, a device attached behind the Gundam’s waist to help it move forward and back in the real-life attraction.
You can see how each individual part is assembled and articulated on the second page of Hobby Watch’s review. The end results will see the RX-78F00 Gundam attached to the G-Carrier on the Gundam-Dock. The latter can also be moved forward and backward to simulate movements in the real-life attraction. However, unlike the actual life-sized robot—and just like any other Gunpla, the 1/144 Gundam model kit can also be separated from the dock and posed on its own.
The 1/144 RX-78F00 Gundam & G-Dock will be released by Bandai Spirits in December 2020 at 2,750 yen. A larger 1/100-scaled version of the Gunpla—albeit without the supporting dock—will also be available at 3,960 yen. These model kits will help celebrate the opening of Gundam Factory Yokohama, where visitors can see the life-sized robot from Mobile Suit Gundam making some movements, on December 19, 2020.
